The Impact of Accounting Software on the Financial Performance of Restaurant Businesses in Kano, Nigeria

Accounting software has become widely adopted in modern business operations and plays a critical role in achieving organizational objectives. Its increasing acceptance in the restaurant industry, however, does not automatically translate into improved financial performance over time. This study examines the relationship between the use of accounting software and the financial performance of registered restaurant businesses in Kano, Nigeria. A purposive sampling technique was employed to determine the sample size in line with the objectives of the study. Financial performance, measured by profit after tax, served as the dependent variable, while the independent variable was measured by the existence and use of accounting software. Primary data were collected through structured close-ended questionnaires. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between the use of accounting software and the financial performance of restaurant businesses. Based on these findings, the study recommends that relevant regulatory and industry authorities ensure the adoption of accounting software by restaurant operators and intensify awareness campaigns to educate business owners on the benefits of accounting software utilization for improved financial performance and sustainability.
